Little Green Mermaid
September/Little Green Mermaid
And just like that Summer is coming to an end. Before long thoughts will turn to Autumn sweaters, soups and witches, so I’m sharing my little green mermaid illustrations before she fades with my memories of a truly happy and busy Summer.
I’ve made so many sketches and illustrations of this little green sea siren, deciding to give her a place of her own on the blog felt absolutely the right thing to do. This means you can enjoy and view her all in one neat little corner.
It all started with this little sketch I made a few years ago in the corner of my sketchbook…
MERMAID: A Mythical creature, half woman, half fish
I just kept returning to that one sweet sketch. Her playful, whimsiness meant I just had to dip in and out of her adventures over the Summer. I made a few more illustrations of her every time she swam into my thoughts.
I’ve sold all these pieces now but did take scans of my favorites for possible future small art prints.
Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I’ve enjoyed her company during the last few months.
I used Gansai Watercolour for the collection along with Blackwing pencils. This particular green is from an exclusive set of shades available at Choosing Keeping
I’m particularly in love with the shells with legs, they appear in at least 3 of the illustrations.
Wishing you all a truly lovely September.
Pip.
